If you listen to the songs that leaked prior to The College Dropout, you'll notice Kanye West wasn't always so on-message. Consider "Keep the Receipt": anchored by a hook from Ol' Dirty Bastard--during his brief phase on Roc-A-Fella as Dirt McGirt--Kanye was threatening to "hospital you" and taunting your "broke-ass mama" for buying the cheapest coffins available. But by the time his retail debut hit shelves, he had whittled down his aesthetic into the one that helped shift the archetype of the famous male rap star. Central to that was "Family Business," the touching ode to his imprisoned cousins and his grandmother's photo albums. Today (Oct. 14), Chance The Rapper released a cover of sorts, complete with plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from the younger Chicagoan's recent tour. The song's original melodies are replayed by members of The Social Collective, Chance's group of musician friends and collaborators.
