XXL Freshmen 2015: Tory Lanez Pitch [Video]

XXL Freshmen 2015 is coming and the freshman hopefuls are gearing up to possibly make this year’s class. With the 10th Spot voting happening now, we have to let the potentials tell us why they should appear on this year’s cover.

Toronto native, Tory Lanez first caught national attention in 2010, garnering massive media coverage after he boldly challenged Drake ten thousand dollars, merely based off of the fact that the OVO rapper would undoubtedly enjoy Lanez' music. The challenge came after false rumors spread that Tory was Drake's little brother. Prior to that, Lanez inked a deal Sean Kingston's label, Time Is Money Entertainment but the deal was short lived. In that time period, when Justin Bieber briefly ventured into the rap world, introducing his rap alias Shawty Mane , Tory again made headlines when many accused the pop star of sampling lines from Lanez in a freestyle over Vado and Cam’ron’s “Speaking in Tongues.” Fast forward to the present, Tory has now been in the game for a minute and continues to unveil consistent material. Over the course of his career, Tory has released over 10 mixtapes including his break-out project, Playing for Keeps, and has been featured on a ton of songs by today's top MCs, including YG's My Krazy Life track "Me & My Bitch," Meek Mill's "Fuckin' Wit Me," and most recently Trina's "F*ck Love." His most recent project is the Lost Cause mixtape. Watch above as he tells us why he should appear on the coveted XXL Freshmen list.

The XXL Freshmen 10th Spot will run from March 16 to March 22. This is where the public gets the chance to vote an artist into XXL Freshmen Class.
