I had to weigh in on this. Who gives a flying fuck where the artists are from. Can’t u see that shit music is coming at us from all coasts. Hip Hop is dead man. I can’t tell the differece between a NY beat or a South beat anymore, and I love the West Coast, but damn. To be honest, the only music I’m feelin’ these days comes from the Mid West. Hip Hop usto be a fuckin’ art for man, and escape for mothafuckaz!!!!! Now it’s just garbage. Who killed hip hop??? I think XXL should do some research and do a whole issue on the shit, we need to save this shit ya’ll!!! QUIT HATIN’!!

I feel exactly what you sayin, trust me. I think Ross got some skill and if you’ve ever heard Jakie-O’s, Pitbull, and Brisco’s underground shit, it’ll have you risen your eyebrow.

Truthfully, I listen to Nas’, Commons’ and Lupe’s album more than Ross’, simply because I like complex rhymes more. But at the same time, I listen to and respect Ross, Trina, Trick (he had complex shit back in the day also) and everyone else. Look at another post I put up. Rappers down here only 3-4 years ago were spittin hard and were complex. When Ross was underground, niggas was sayin he could go to New York and hang with niggas up there. That’s how it WAS.

The industry completely changed now. Its all a popularity contest. Do you think back in 2000 a nigga like Solja Boy would actually get signed? HELL NO! But back then, the music was popular if it was complex. Nowadays, its more popular to be simple. It sucks massive balls, but I guess niggas gotta eat.

I mean, look at Webbie. He got some fire complex shit on his album, but its mostly repatative bling bling and booties. That just goes to show that rappers down here have the talent to do it, but it wont pay their bills. It basically gets to the point where they HAVE to sell their souls. Feel me?
