Chaka is right on with his analogy. I have been trying to point out since 01, 02 that AZ is CONSISTENT with his music. He doesn’t make 4 hot songs when he peddles an album. 80% or more is tight and the ones that don’t sound great are only based on the choice of production. This dude has made lemonade out of lemons and is starting to get more shine back. That last song he did with Nas lately (check it on Youtube) is real nice.

My brotha if by comparing AZ to Plato you understood me in the sense that I was comparing their works then you are wrong.Read my post again and read your history books.The great philosopher Plato, whose works are classics,was slept on in the western middle ages.so I used his case as an analogy for the dope lyricist AZ who is being slept on today.The point I was making in that analogy is this:sometimes men who are specially good in a particular art are not recongnize until way much later.Peace

AZ is the truth. To me he always been right there with Jay, Nas, and Big amongst East Coast bosses. You rarely see a nigga who speaks like he does- with sense and integrity. I remember still when i first heard of son, it was when he had “Sugarhill” knockin on the radio like every day back in like ’95. I’ll never forget that! To this day he still lyricly sharp as hell. I’m just mad him and Nas never made an album together, cuz every single song they made together was a muthafuckin classic. Every single one (challenge that). Nowadays its sad to see so few real emcees left. Just so happens the south got it on lock (hint, hint)

I kind of feel the present generation is doing to AZ’s works what the western world did to Plato’s works in the middle ages.Most people today are surprised how the works of a classical Greek Philosopher like Plato was slept on in the western middle ages.I feel its the same way people in the distant future are going to look at this present generation in regards to the works of a classical lyricist like AZ.AZ keep doing your thing and continue to keep it real cos even if the present generation does’nt give you the full props you deserve sometime in the future this will be done.Peace an Hip Hop head in Africa wrote this.
