The Break Presents: Logic

Check out Maryland native Logic, who has been growing his fan base by showing versatility in his music to go along with crisp visuals…

Breakout: “All I Do”

Also Check: “Young Sinatra III”

And: “Mind Of Logic”

Name: Logic (Young Sinatra)

Age: 22

Reppin’: Maryland

My style and/or skills have been compared to: Well, to be honest, we live in an era where everyone feels the need to compare. I’ve gotten Drake because I sing, Mac Miller because my skin is white even though my father is Black, and J. Cole because of my raw lyricism. However when its all said and done I am Logic.

My standout records and/or moments have been: “All I Do” was definitely a fun party record that stood out from the Young Sinatra mixtape. However, “Young Sinatra III” really solidified the hip-hop element and who I am as an artist for this next project.

I’m gonna change the game by: Being me. So many people tell artists to rap like this, or try that, but I’m just gonna do me. I intend to bring so much versatility to hip-hop. In no way do I mean to sound cocky, I’m just very confident I will bring new flavor into our genre. We are in the second renaissance of hip-hop, and I plan to be one of the front runners alongside many who have inspired me.

I’d Like to Work With: To be honest the list is endless, from the Legends such as Nas, Jay, Tribe, Black Thought (The Roots), Wu Tang, Mos Def and plenty more, to the new school kings like J. Cole, Drake, Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Yelawolf, B.o.B and Big K.R.I.T., I mean it never ends. However, before working with anyone, I truly want to solidify myself as an artist who can do it on his own. Because I’m not in it for a co-sign, I’m in it for their respect, as well as the listeners.

My goal in hip-hop is: It’s a simple one that will definitely be a long journey. My goal in hip-hop is to be known as the most versatile musician to ever do it. Learning from the greats, how to construct lyricism and put it together like your Big Ls, Nases, classic Jay Zs Gurus ect… but blending it with a new school sound. I love old school hip-hop, and enjoy pop/mainstream music as well, all music honestly, but one thing that the mainstream lacks is lyrical content, there is a time and place, my music will be known as a soundtrack for the entire human experience and in no way will I be hypocritical, so with that said I will create lyrical records, old school records, club records, fun records, happy records, relationship records and deep records that truly make you think about your position in life… everything. Not everyone will like it, and that’s okay. Because I don’t make it for them. I do it because it makes me happy and that’s all that matters. Making music with a positive message, telling people to follow their dreams whatever it may be all while walking with honor and peace. And at the end of the day, just having fun! Because everyday I get to wake up and do what I love for a living, I just want as many people who listen to my music to know they can do the same! whatever it may be.

I’m gonna be the next: Well to be honest and in no way am I trying to sound arrogant, I’m not going to be the next anyone! I am and will be known as the first Logic! From my lyrics to my sound, I’ve been inspired by all my favorite artists both new and old, but at the end of the day its my story on the record. My blood sweat and tears in the music, from writing it, to recording, engineering, mixing, producing, and mastering all my own music. Being there every step of the way, respecting my roots in hip-hop, while creating something new. Though Jay-Z, Frank Sinatra, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Mozart, and Michael Jackson all have incredibly huge shoes to fill. I plan on creating my own pair, and living in no mans shadow. They have set an incredible example, I now can only hope to take the torch they’ve passed me and run on the correct path, however…my gut tells me I’m just where I need to be!

Logic is honestly probably the most humble artist I’ve ever encountered, and one of the most dedicated to his craft. Everything about him is going to make him a star, from his understanding of the game, the way he talks and carries himself, the way he bonds with each and every fan, to his lyricism to his crossover mainstream appeal while holding his artistic integrity. Logic honestly is the next huge superstar in music.
