22 Hip-Hop Reunions In The Past Two Years

After their first performance together in six years at Summer Jam earlier this month—not to mention their fantastic official reunion show last night at Webster Hall—the G-Unit comeback is fully in motion. The day after Summer Jam, the Unit dropped a new track, "Nah I'm Talkin' 'Bout," and followed that up the next day with a remix to Drake's "0 To 100" and the promise of a new G-Unit album in November; and with 50 set to follow last week's Animal Ambition by releasing Street King Immortal in September, there's a decent chance of more G-Unit music before then.

For a crew with such a massive collective catalog over the past 12 years, new material can't help but remind us of the insane level of mixtape output that the Mixtape Millionaires produced. To take a trip back through the years, XXL has compiled all 81 G-Unit mixtapes since 2002, all in one place. The Unit is back. —Dan Rys

hip-hop rapper duos
Two heads are often better than one, no matter what realm you're talking about; Michael Jordan might have grabbed only a couple of his six rings without Scottie Pippen; Kobe Bryant would probably have a pair less, too, were it not for Shaq. And with one of the all-time great rapping duos ever making their triumphant return at Coachella last weekend—and making a second pass at it this weekend, too—XXL got to thinking about the greatest duos of all time. But we wanted to make sure everyone was competing on a level playing field, so we focused on duos that were from the two-rapper setup, rather than the rapper-producer combo. This excludes many of our favorites—Eric B. and Rakim, Gang Starr, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Madvillain, even newcomers like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis—but we'll get to them later (and before anyone says anything, Public Enemy was more than just Chuck D and Flavor Flav). Without further ado, here are XXL's ten best rapper duos of all time. Let the debates begin. XXL Staff with Jordan Lebeau

Today, April 2, would have been the 75th birthday of the late legendary Marvin Gaye, one of the most influential and talented artists of his generation. His death 30 years ago yesterday was one of the biggest losses in American music history, but luckily for us, he left behind a legacy that has continued to be the gift that keeps giving. One of the most sampled men in hip-hop—alongside James Brown and George Clinton—Marvin's legacy has been filtered through the rap ranks for decades, with artists as diverse in content and time as Kool G Rap and Lil B flipping his songs to make beats. To commemorate what would have his 75th birthday, XXL pulled together a list of 75 of the greatest hip-hop songs that sample Marvin Gaye. —Dan Rys, Michael Carlos, Kyle Kramer, Tim Larew and Eric Thurm
