Waka Flocka enlists the King of the South for the remix to the first track off his Salute Me or Shoot Me 4 (Banned From America) mixtape, which came out in the fall of last year. The original track featured former label boss Gucci Mane, but T.I. hopped on the song while Gucci and Waka were feuding, with Waka eventually getting unceremoniously dropped from the label. If his Twitter is anything to go by, a video for the remix—which is produced by 808 Mafia—is on the way as well. Check the track out below.

It looks like one of 1017 Brick Squad’s biggest stars may be absent from the group’s album.

In an interview with Movie Star Management, Waka Flocka Flame said that he will not be a part of the upcoming Brick Squad album Big Money Talk despite Gucci Mane’s claim. Although he said that he’s still down with Gucci’s camp despite their brief spat earlier this year, he’d focusing more on his own Brick Squad Monopoly compilation.

“I ain’t got nothing to do with that album,” he said. “I’m Brick Squad Monopoly. I still listen to Chief ‘s music, Gucci’s music is cool—everybody’s music. I just don’t see myself making an album with the entire group. That ain’t where I lay my Kangol. [But] Brick Squad Monopoly, look out for the Brick Squad Monopoly album.”

It looks like an encounter with Waka Flocka Flame has inspired a 53-year-old blogger to divorce her husband.

On Sunday June 2, a rap blogger who runs Deep Commotion posted on her blog describing how a attending a live performance of Waka Flocka Flame pushed her to divorce her husband. The 53-year-old writer says she first came across Flocka while writing a piece about the impact of social media on music promotion—an article that Flocka re-Tweeted.

“In attempting to learn more about Twitter, I found musicians were doing a better job of social media promotion than most social media experts,” she writes. “I blogged about two rap artists who got social media right, Waka being one of them. He retweeted my post and graciously followed me on Twitter when I asked…Waka’s following and re-Tweeting me gave me happiness, more followers and credibility. He started my new career of reviewing rap artists. I can’t ever thank him enough.”

She continues that it was her husband’s disapproval of her attending a Waka Flocka concert in Ft. Lauderdale that proved to be the tipping point in their relationship. She explained that his implications that she might, “end up doing something [she'd] regret” at the show made her feel that she was living her life, “looking over her shoulder.”

“My ex-husband and I had always had problems,” she writes. “I knew Waka was coming to Ft. Lauderdale, my husband basically said he wouldn’t prevent me from going (as if) but he didn’t want me to go. When I didn’t immediately agree not to go, things got worse. He basically implied that (and I’m paraphrasing), ‘Many black men would be putting their bodies in close proximity to mine.’ Also, ‘Since I was so enamored of Waka, if Waka asked, I might go out clubbing with him and end up doing something I’d regret.’”

She added, “The experience with my ex of the Waka concert made my mind up for me. It was time to make that break, and live my life without looking over my shoulder or being beholden to an immature man who didn’t appreciate me or the interesting turns my life might take. We’ve been divorced for a few months now. I couldn’t be happier.”

1986: Waka Flocka Flame turns 27 today.

The Southern rapper took the hip-hop world by storm in 2009 with his hit single “O Let’s Do It,” which peaked at No. 7 in Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks. With his energetic music, the Bricksquad member has come a long way since his first mixtape, Salute Me or Shoot Me, and continues to make his name in the rap game.

Always working, Waka is planning on releasing his next album Flockavelli 2, which is said to be released on October 5 and two more mixtapes. Next in the path of Waka are movies. He revealed he has signed a deal in his first feature film which is said to be starring DMX and Steven Seagal. With music, and now movies, Waka continues to prove he can provide the flame that the industry needs.

News broke yesterday that Chief Keef was arrested for driving 110mph in a 55 mph zone. While speeding tickets are pretty common occurrence, the incident marks the second time in two weeks in which Keef found himself behind bars. When we last caught up with Gucci Mane, he was getting ready for his big screen debut in Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers. Since then, Guwop’s dropped a handful of mixtapes, spent nearly three weeks in jail on a probation violation, had a public falling out with Waka Flocka Flame and signed Chief Keef to his 1017 Brick Squad label. He also released Trap House III last week, an album that boasts appearances from Rick Ross, 2 Chainz and Wiz Khalifa, among others. As you might imagine, there was a lot to talk about when we hopped on the line with the Trap God yesterday. Here’s what we found out…

XXL: There was reportedly an issue with iTunes releasing Trap House III a few days later than originally planned. What happened there?

Gucci Mane: They said that some of the files we had sent to them was corrupted, so it was some sort of technical error. They apologized for it. I don’t think they did it on purpose, ‘cause they get a percentage of that too. So it was unfortunate, but it’s the No. 3 album on iTunes right now.

“Hell Yes” and “Point In My Life” are great. You’re really doing a lot with the Auto-Tune. 

I love that shit man. I could do that shit good. That’s why I keep fucking with it.

The album was initially supposed to come out in July. What made you bump it up?

I really wanted to drop something before Memorial Day Weekend. I always felt like Memorial Day Weekend is the beginning of the summer, so as a strategic move I felt I needed to drop something for the hood. To coincide with people going to Myrtle Beach and people going to Puerto Rico and people going to Miami. I wanted my music to be the theme music for the summer.

You’ve dropped five mixtapes this year in addition to this album. Do you ever leave the studio?

I don’t even go to sleep. I just record 24/7.  I don’t leave the studio because you never know when you’re gonna make a big song that will change the whole situation. It’s not like, ‘Tomorrow I’m going to go to the studio from 10 to 6 and the next day I’m going to go from 6 to 12, and then I’m going to make a hit the next day.’ One day I might make no songs ‘cause I might be tired or the next day you might not have no good beats. Music comes when it comes, so I always want to be around the music.

What are you working on now?

I’m just working on my Brick Squad group album which will drop this summer. It’ll be me, PeeWee Longway, Young Thug, Dolph and of course Chief Keef. I even got songs with Waka on there. I’m just gonna drop a collection of all the best songs we’ve been making. I dropped a mixtape for every artist on my label, so now I feel like it’s just time to put our album together and show everybody the chemistry we got together.

Speaking of Waka, what’s going on with you guys right now?

There was more of a miscommunication and things got misconstrued. But we got too much of a good thing. Whatever we got to work out, we always work it out.

That’s what everybody wants to see happen. So how did you and Keef link up?

He a big fan of mine and I just see a lot of potential in him. I feel like all these years I’ve been in the rap game, there’s a lot of things that I wish I could have did a different way. So I just feel like if nothing else, I just want to give him some advice so that he can just enjoy his career. Just show him that trouble is so easy to get into. It’s really more of a big brother thing. There’s a business arrangement of course, but I just really like him as a person. He hard. He for real. The young people take to what’s real, what they perceive as authentic.

Is it true that you and Young Scooter were cellmates in jail recently?

Yep. We were locked up in the same jail. That’s true.

How did you guys spend your time there?

We would see each other in jail. I don’t even…I’m so glad to be out of there. I don’t even want to talk about being in jail. I just can’t wait ‘till Scooter come out of there. I understand why somebody on the outside of jail looking in on somebody would want to know about it, but to me, there’s just not much I could say about it.

Scooter’s album was also supposed to come out in July. Is that going to be pushed back?

Scooter says he wants to push the album back so he can promote it more. He don’t want to just throw his album out there before going out and telling the people how hard he worked on it. He’s got his own label too, and as his partner I got to respect his wishes. He’ll be home soon. It’s unfortunate, but he’ll come home soon and reap the benefits of his hard work.

A lot of people were talking about your appearance in Spring Breakers. Do you plan on doing any films again anytime soon?

Thank you man. I really appreciate that. I got another one coming out in June that I executive produced. It’s called The Spot. It’s got me and Keyshia Dior. It got Rocko in it. It’s got like two or three Atlanta comedians in there. It’s like a comedy. It got Scooter in there. It got OJ in there. That shit crazy.

We’re not sure why, but it feels like this next week is going to be a really important one for new music. It could be Kanye’s upcoming appearance on SNL, where he’s rumored to be premiering a brand-new single (“I Am God”?), or maybe it’s the release of Daft Punk’s anxiously awaited Random Access Memories (we’ve heard it on the low, and it’s awesome), but something’s definitely in the air and it’s got us excited.

This past week saw some interesting releases, including new mixtapes from Soulja Boy and Gilbere Forte, as well as the premieres of a new single from Gucci Mane’s upcoming Trap House III and a “new” EP from retired Queens MC Big Baby Gandhi. On the news side, rapper Tim Dog is alleged to have faked his own death and Diddy managed to troll the Internet by pretending to be a new cast member on Downton Abbey (in reality he was working on a Funny or Die skit called Downton Diddy, which you can watch here).

Waka Flocka Flame makes some of the most riotous hip-hop music in history. But lately, Waka wants to move away from hip-hop to start working in other genres such as EDM.

“I’m not a hip-hop fan,” he said in a recent interview. “I can’t even tell you where hip-hop started. God’s honest truth.”

He added that he didn’t want to get “stuck in refrigerator,” meaning the 26-year-old is looking at other creative outputs for inspiration. Diplo, Flosstradamus and more have been artists he’s been working with.

In Waka’s other projects outside of music, he discussed his philanthropic endeavors. For one, Waka is planning on opening a YMCA near his neighborhood, but is running into some obstacles. “They are giving me a hard time with it. I tried to put an Olympic-sized pool. They told me I need a two-million dollar insurance. Some crazy stuff.”

For another, Waka is trying to make it in Hollywood and spoke about receiving three movie deal offers. Add to that his work on a sitcom for Cartoon Network and he sounds like he’s diving in headfirst.

“I wrote my first cartoon. Cartoon Network love it. Serious,” he said.

Yesterday, the rap game was blessed with monumental news that Chief Keef had officially joined Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad line-up. Although Keef reps his own Glory Boyz Entertainment clique, the signing marks a new union between Atlanta and Chicago, a cross-over of drill and trap. However, with Keef having become one of the most sought-after rappers of the new era, it makes you wonder who else the Windy City Drill sergeant could have aligned himself with besides Gucci.
