We don’t know if Ludacris had a “Helluva Night”, but, it was damn sure a wild one. A huge brawl broke out last night, while he was hosting a party at club Prive in Atlanta. The ATL rapper was reportedly circulating the club, mic in hand, when a melee broke loose with several people throwing and catching blows. Initial reports had Luda involved in the ruckus, with some saying he was jumped and others saying he or his girlfriend, Eudoxie was hit with a bottle. But, today, a scratch-less and bruise-less Luda posted three hilarious Vine videos (below) and a Instagram photo with the caption “This is what a bottle to the head looks like,” putting to rest rumors that he was stomped out.

Yesterday, news broke that Nicki Minaj had partnered with Moscato Wine for their Myx Fusions “ready-to-drink” line. Even though it’s only Wednesday, this week has seen a number of hip-hop personalities driving recklessly. Chief Keef found himself behind bars after pushing 110 mph in a 55 mph zone, while Chris Brown is facing legal heat for a possible hit-and-run. Even Justin Bieber raised the ire of the law—as well as former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson—for driving too fast in his neighborhood.

While none of the aforementioned incidents proved fatal for any of the parties involved, not every hip-hop act has been as lucky. Now, XXL decided to take a look back at six rappers who weren’t so lucky.

Fresh off the release of his latest mixtape #IDGAF, Ludacris weighs in on his position in the hip-hop game.

Luda recently chopped it up with Rap-Up and discussion his position in the wider echelon of hip-hop. Although he considers himself to an elite MC, he feels people have a problem understanding when he’s making serious music and when he’s making fun music.

“I feel good about my place in hip-hop,” he said. “I feel like I’m one of the elite and I say this humbly speaking. To make it to album number eight [Ludaversal], to be in the game 13 years and still be hungry, I feel like I’ve written my chapter into the hip-hop history book and I feel like everything from now is damn near extra credit.”

He added, “They call me Ludacris for a reason. Sometimes people don’t know when to take me serious. And sometimes people do take me serious when I’m really just joking around.”

From the drunk and hypnotic “If I Ain’t F’d Up” to the frenetic, Chris Brown-featuring twerk song “Dancin Dirty,” #IDGAF’s sees Luda in his comfort zone, stomping through the loud, speaker-thumping production of proven hitmakers Mike Will Made It, DJ Mustard and Bangladesh, among others. And while he does so naturally, none of the mixtape’s 10 tracks have real potential to serve as a legitimate comeback hit for the now 35-year-old rapper. Regardless, Luda’s natural charm alongside features from the likes of Young Jeezy, French Montana and Mac Miller keep the project afloat.

Despite the fact that each song has essentially the same goal in mind, the difference in production styles prevent #IDGAF from ever becoming too monotonous, and if it’s not taken too seriously, it’s actually an enjoyable release. Ultimately, it’s best if the listener take to this project in the same mindset in which they’d go into seeing Ludacris’ other release from last Friday, ‘Fast and Furious 6’.—@wavydavewilliam

While the relatively painless transition from musician to actor has become the norm for some of hip-hop and r&b’s biggest stars in recent years, Fast & Furious 6 stars Tyrese and Ludacris have proven that some musicians-turned-actors actually have some impressive chops to show off.

After finding notable success as rappers and singers, both Luda and Ty have carved out viable niches for themselves in Hollywood: Tyrese by embracing the action genre through appearances in films by John Singleton and Michael Bay, and Luda pursuing a more experimental route by working on everything from rom-com New Year’s Eve to interpersonal drama Crash.

With both guys finding so much work on the silver screen, their careers were bound to intersect at some point, and on 2003′s 2 Fast 2 Furious – a sequel to the original The Fast and the Furious - they did. Since then, the Fast and Furious franchise has become a staple of American pop culture, and is currently on its sixth installment, set to hit theaters on Friday, May 24. While on a press run through Europe, Luda and Ty hopped on a private press Google+ Hangout to discuss the new film, how being involved with the franchise has turned them into car nuts, and what new music they’re working on.
