Dance crazes are nothing new in hip-hop. As a genre with origins in jazz, soul and funk, sometimes fans forget it's ok for a hip-hop song to get you moving. Over the years, we've gotten everything from the Lean Back and the Crank That to the Harlem Shake and the Dougie. Rappers have even used their fun tracks to break through to mainstream success. And as far as artists with dance crazes of 2015 go, one young MC out of the South who goes by iLoveMemphis is one of the leaders of the pack.

Memphis dropped the infectious "Hit The Quan" smack dab in the middle of the summer and the dance-driven party track became a viral sensation. Based off the dance of former XXL Freshman Rich Homie Quan, Memphis associates almost every line of the song with a dance move and has plenty of fun demonstrating in his new video (currently at 3 million views and counting). What started as a fun fluke has since peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 200. Even major players like Kendrick Lamar have taken notice to Memphis' rapid rise.

Determined not to be a flash in the pan, Memphis is following up "Hit The Quan" with another fun single, "Lean and Dab" and has even bigger plans for next year. "I'm trying to show them on the big screen how to have fun." Get to know the man behind the dance trying to infuse hip-hop with more fun. —Sidney Madden

Name: iLoveMemphis (also known as iHeartMemphis)

Age: 22

Hometown: Memphis

I grew up listening to: Memphis music. I was always outside so I didn't watch TV at all. But I listened to music and stuff but I was just really outside all the time. When I did, I used to bump what was hot, which was Yo Gotti, Three 6 Mafia, you know Memphis stuff. I just bump whoever got a hot record out. Mostly hip-hop. I started to do it myself when I seen different people making it and I see the different reasons how they're making it. You just have to put in work so I just started putting in work.

My style's been compared to: Nobody, honestly. And I'm surprised people are not comparing me to Soulja Boy. So surprised because this is taking off like crazy like how Soulja Boy had the movement in 2007. Because there's a difference, we've had a lot of people just make dance songs, but when you as a person are getting famous also, you know what I'm saying? The song will get famous but the person don't get famous. But once the person gets famous, that mean they're around to stay.

Most people don't know: I created the dance first, then I came up with the song. I just knew it was going to be called "Hit the Quan." Got some ideas together, went to the studio and it was on. Yeah, I freestyled the part that everybody do. I just went in and had fun. I was just being myself having fun. And people say that's when you make hits, when you having fun.

My standout records/moments to date: I've been to the Ellen Show and I did The Real and stuff. I think to me, even though Ellen is bigger than the BET Awards, I was more amped about the BET Awards because that's something I've been waiting on my whole life. I didn't grow up saying I wanted to be on Ellen, you know what I'm saying? I was so amped! I was like, "Man!" Because probably about four or five months, we was watching the BET Awards, not the BET Hip-Hop Awards, the BET Awards and I was sitting on my couch and I was like, "Man, I'mma be at that next one." That's when I made "Hit The Quan" and I was there. I spoke it into existence. You have to speak it into existence and put that work.

My goal in hip-hop is: To change the game. How I want to change the game is have everybody happy. And how everybody going to be happy is when they dance. When they dance, you laugh at yourself because you feel like you did something goofy. So if everybody happy, all the crime and stuff will shut down and on top of that, people will be exercising by dancing. So, you know, it's a win-win.

I'm the next: That's a hard one...I have to think. Big thing? Naw, with social media? I'm the new generation. I'm the next era. I have the kids right now. And it's a blessing because the kids are so powerful.
