Out of nowhere Baby E has exploded onto the scene with his hit single "Finessin." After it was remixed by Kevin Gates and Lil Bibby, two 2014 XXL Freshmen, the blonde hair crooner became the talk of the town. Shortly after, E became Young Money's newest signee. Now the young upstart's main goal is to put out a strong body of work. "We’re getting our videos for “Finessin” right now and taking it all the way to the radio," he told XXL. "I’m focused on a project, not sure if its an EP or album. But I'm really adamant to put out a body of work. That’s my biggest focus at the time right now." Get familiar with Baby E in this week’s edition of The Break.—Emmanuel C.M.

Name: Baby E

Age: 25

Hometown: Pensacola, Fla.

I grew up listening to: I grew up listening to a whole lot of stuff. I was really into Lil Wayne growing up, Three 6 Mafia, Blink 182 and Nirvana, just a big mix of stuff like that. I just feel like I was born to do this. From as long as I can remember, I always wanted to be a musician. My mom has video of me when I was three years old performing with a toy guitar. It's always naturally something I just wanted to pursue. It's been my heart and soul. I put out my first song in like 2010 and I sent it to my homeboy. I didn’t know if he was going to like it or not. He was like, "Yo man, this shit is crazy. You got to do this for real. This is real shit.” Probably like 2011 to 2012, I put out my first mixtape called Girlfriend Material.

Most people don’t know: I've written and produced for a lot of other artists. I wrote and produced “Bounce It” for Juicy J, I co-wrote a song I did with Miley Cyrus. I got a song I did with Pitbull.

My style’s been compared to: I’ve been doing my own thing; I’m on my own shit. It’s nobody that really sound like me. I feel like my sound is an audio version of my life. I’ve been through so much shit, I’ve seen so many parts of the world, I moved around so much and got to know so many different cultures and be influenced by those cultures. I think that’s the sound of my music too. I’m mixed of everything. That’s always what I wanted to do. Just think outside the box and not limit myself to one genre and not living myself to one vibe or one subject matter. I just make whatever.

My standout records and/or moment to date have been: My standout record to this point has been “Finessin.” My career was going alright prior to putting that out. But as soon as I dropped that song, a lot of things changed. It’s crazy to see. The biggest moment I had so far is meeting Wayne and becoming a part of Young Money. Wayne has been my favorite artist for many years so to make that happen, I’m proud to accomplish

My goal in hip-hop is: I want to be the greatest artist in the world. I want to be a voice of my generation. I want to influence people in a positive way, positive vibes. I want to take the fuck over, sell more records than anyone ever had.

I’m going to be the next: I really just want to do my own thing. I really just want to be the first me.
