Name: Propain (Chris Duduley)
Hometown: I’m from the southside of Houston, Texas (Home of the Screwed Up Click. DJ Screw, Fat Pat, Z-Ro, etc.). Born and raised. A neighborhood called Hiram Clarke.
I grew up listening to: I started rapping and writing music around 5th or 6th grade. All Eyez On Me was the album that made me wanna write music. It started off as just me wanting to be Tupac. And from there I just continued throughout school. Eventually in college I decided to quit hooping and pursue it full time.
Most people don’t know I: I definitely plan to get Texas that national respect lyrically that we once had years ago. Substance and conceptual music. I don’t like the way the rest of the industry views Texas right now. Its a new day.
My style’s been compared to: I don’t really get a lot of comparisons. I try to be as unique as possible. Some of the songs have been compared as far as concept wise, but overall I try to be myself.
My standout records and/or moments to date have been: One of the biggest moments I’ve ever had was when I met Scarface at a video shoot years ago. I spit for him and his reaction and what he told me has been the main reason for my confidence. To this day he’s still the big homie I can call on if I need any advice. Another moment has to be the recent release of my new project Ridin’ Slab. The feedback and buzz its gaining has been crazy to me. To actually see it spreading so fast has been humbling.
My goal in Hip-Hop is: My goal in hip hop is to leave a legacy that will live for years to come. I just wanna make the Bun Bs, the Scarfaces and all the greats where I’m from proud. Stain the game.
I’m gonna be the next: Youngin’ who defied the odds and turned nothing into something. Mogul shit.
