The Break Presents: Phil Adé
Also Check: “Toast 2 Life” featuring Kevin Ross
And: “Always There”
Name: Phil Adé
I started rapping: When I was 17
My style and/or skills have been compared to: I hear Drake sometimes simply for the fact that I rap and sing, and my voice tone along with my DMV accent draws comparisons to Wale. But I’d like to think my overall style is incomparable.
My standout records and/or moments have been: As far as records, my song “Toast 2 Life” has earned a spot in rotation on both of the major urban stations in the DC area 93.9 WKYS and 95.5 WPGC, and I was only the second artist from this area to accomplish this. Also, the “Hollywood Remix” off my mixtape ‘The Letterman’, which featured Raekwon, Wale, Tabi Bonney & Raheem DeVaughn. Those guys are all artists I look up to and the song did a lot for my buzz. Early this year I was able to tour in Canada with Mac Miller for his ‘Most Dope Tour’. More recently I performed on Lupe Fiasco’s Lasers Tour along with Wale, Miguel, Tinie Tempah and Sarah Green.
I’m gonna change the game by: Telling my story over some vicious ass beats
I’d Like to Work With: Q-Tip, No I.D., Kanye West, Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Miguel, Erykah Badu, Bun B
My goal in hip-hop is: To tell my story and create music that will make people think and also allow them to have a good time
I’m gonna be the next: Major artist from the DC area
