Reppin’: FreeSol is a 5 piece rap band from Memphis, TN named after its front man, FreeSol Anderson.

Our style and/or skills have been compared to: Being a rap band we are often compared to The Roots, Gym Class Heroes, Linkin Park, 311, and so on. I think what separates us is unlike all those other bands we come from the dirty south, Memphis, TN so naturally our sound is going to be quite different.

Our standout records and/or moments have been: Since the birth of the band we have been in 5 major competitions, like the Grammy showcase and Turner presents My South Rocks, and won ALL of them out of tens of thousands of bands. A year ago, we had the opportunity to have a song, “Don’t Give it Away” produced by Jim Jonsin and Justin Timberlake, placed on one of our favorite TV shows, Entourage.

We’re gonna change the game by: I’m not sure if we’re going to “change the game” but I did create this band because I think in the performance area, hip-hop has been slacking. There’s nothing entertaining watching one person with a mic walk back and forth on stage rapping. I mean, if it’s Jay-Z and you know every lyric, cool but 9 out of 10 rappers suck live. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it. I wanted to make hip hop with live instruments and a DJ. Not reinventing the wheel but I do think most rap bands are really just rock bands with rappers but I think we have the ability to become known for catchy songs but killer live shows labeled as hip-hop and not rock. If we influence the game in any way, I hope we cause more rappers and singers in the urban field to create bands, not hired musicians hired to play a few gigs but real bands like Metallica and U2 but in the hip-hop genre.

We’d Like to Work With: First, I can’t believe that we’ve already worked with Jim Jonsin, Rob Knox, Cool & Dre, Mike Elozando, Timbaland and JT, but if I could add Kanye West, will.i.am, Nicki Minaj, Sade, Dre, Rick Rubin, or Pharrell to the list it would be a dream on top of a dream to come true.

Our goal in hip-hop is: In order for anything on Earth to exist it must evolve. I hope to be apart of the evolution of hip-hop.

We’re gonna be the next: Definitely keep your eyes open because FreeSol will be the next big thing. In a time when people are looking for and supporting originality we will fill those needs and make a point to consistently give our fans new catchy unforgettable tunes. I think we have potential to become the most commercially successful hip-hop band in history. We’ve proven that our talent can’t be matched, now it’s just time to deliver!
