Breakout: “Birthday Dress”
Also check: “B.B.M.”
Name: Lil Playy
Reppin’: Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles
My style or skills have been compared to: Lil Flip, old school Lil Wayne, Nelly
I started rapping: I started doing music around 10th grade, when I was 15
My standout records or moments have been: My current single, “Birthday Dress,” which is picking up right now. Getting signed to Interscope via Rodney Jerkins earlier this year. I also wrote the hook for Ludacris’s track “My Chick Bad,” and that’s my voice on there. It was nominated for a Grammy. I also dropped my mixtape Tour Bus Music recently, which is all original songs. And I’m featured on Kelly Rowland’s new album on the song “Word It Man.”
I’m gonna change the game by: Providing great, feel good music that’s timeless.
I’d like to work with: I definitely want to work with Kanye West. He’s so creative. I’d also love to work with Beyonce, cause she’s from Houston, and Keri Hilson, cause she’s a dope writer.
My goal in hip-hop is: Having feel good music and letting people know that dreams can come true. A year ago, none of this felt possible.
I’m gonna be the next: I’m gonna be the first Lil Playy.
