Migos, Rich Homie Quan & Iamsu! Show & Prove In XXL Issue 151

Rich Homie Quan

Dequantes “Rich Homie Quan” Lamar wasn’t always the friends with ends. A few years before the bubbling 24-year-old rapper’s summer jam “Type Of Way” was the prerequisite party starter, he played baseball at Decatur’s Ronald E. McNair High School with pro aspirations. After high school, when that didn’t work, he moonlighted with rap and got a job at the airport. When that gig fizzed out, Lamar began jacking other people’s stuff. That led to him serving 15 months in jail for burglary, a curse and a blessing. “The situation could have been worse,” says Quan. “It really sat me down and opened my eyes.”—C. Vernon Coleman II
