Show & Prove is our section in the magazine where we highlight which rappers are hot in hip-hop now. Many who have appeared in S&P have gone on to launch success music careers. With the goal to bring our hand-picked selections online, here are excerpts of the stories from Migos, Rich Homie Quan and Iamsu!, as well as their entire mixtape discography. Our October/November issue with TDE on the cover is available on newsstands.
If repetition really is the father of learning, then Migos have learned a lot this year. Off the strength of a single built around the chanting of one word, “Versace,” the Atlanta rap trio has blurred the lines between the balmy clubs of their hometown and the chic boutiques of the fashion world. With some help from Drake, who remixed the track in June, Migos turned an infectious street rap song into an Internet phenomenon. “We wanted to do something other than Gucci, Louis, Prada, the things other artists were talking about,” says Quavo, the song’s hook-shouter. “We wanted to do something bold.”—Dan Jackson
