A.P., Free Will
Looking for lyrics? A.P. got plenty of ’em littered across 17 tracks off his Free Will mixtape.
From the jump, the New Jersey native sets a tough tone, flipping the instrumental for Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s classic “Brooklyn Zoo” on “Eastwick Taking Over (Every Avenue)” and impressing on the wishful “God Can You Give Me (All I Worked For).”
The latter track has AdotPdot hoping he receives blessings and unabashedly and humorously expressing his desires for former child acting Raven Symone.
“When I was young, I used to want to fuck Raven/She put on weight, I still wanted to fuck Raven/She put off weight, I really wanted to fuck Raven/Man, I really hope I get the things I been praying for,” A.P. spits on the track.
From there, A.P. swiftly dissects instrumentals, ranging from Kendrick Lamar’s “Hii Power” to Gangstarr’s “Just to Get a Rep,” on which he opens the track by spitting: “Yeah, I know they want a little conversation, I hang ’em on my commas and then I keep them waiting.”
A.P. closes out the show with “WWE Shit,” a track that’s sure to be a dream listen for any pro wrestling fan, as AdotPdot name-drops a host of grappling greats like Stone Cold, Junkyard Dog, Jake The Snake, The Macho Man and Owen Hart.
Bottom line, Free Will has A.P. flexing major lyrical muscle. —Mark Lelinwalla
