Freeway’s new mixtape is entitled The Intermission, but from the sound of things, he’s not taking much of a break at all. The 18-track offering, hosted by DJ Superstar Jay & DJ Love Dinero, has Freeway showcasing his frenzied Philly flow over instrumentals crafted by the likes of Jake One, Jahlil Beats and Hit Boy.

“Superstar” finds Freezer holding his own alongside fellow Philly MC and Maybach Music Group young gunner Meek Mill, spitting, “We get to the mustard, you busters are busted/Everybody claiming they the shit until you flush it.” The slick talk continues on tracks such as “Philly In Me” and “Turn It Up,” the latter of which has Freeway boasting and simultaneously warning, “Get cake like I’m Entenmann’s, feed my dogs like I’m Alpo/Fuck with Free, I’ll squeeze and turn your intro to your outro.”

Freeway closes out the mixtape with the tough “Beard Motivation 101,” which has him tearing through three different Young Jeezy-used productions with reckless abandon.

While listeners may crave to hear Freeway develop more concepts to his songs, The Intermission shows Free keeping it Philly to the fullest and it’s definitely enough to whet their appetites until a Freezer album. Eaarrrly! —Mark Lelinwalla
