Two years removed from her breakout hit "Ooouuu," Young M.A still feels like she has something to prove. The Bronx MC's new song "PettyWap," released on July 3, addresses naysayers and demands respect.

Over a beat built around distorted chimes — co-produced by Antwan Thompson, Anthony Barfield & Orrin "Dr. O" Wilson — M.A spends the first verse needling an ex-lover who started dating a man, and serves up the following relatable couplet. "Thinkin' 'bout my next move in my thinking chair/This chip is on my shoulder and it's stayin' there," she raps.

After the chorus, which disses her doubting school teachers, the New Yorker spits eight bars mocking enemies who can't stop thinking about her. Underneath the flexing is vulnerable reflection on her own flaws.

"I feel like flexin'/Bitches, call my phone, don't feel like texting/My Louis clothes that's French, that's what I'm dressed in/Dior my cologne, she said my scent is her obsession/I became possessive, soon as the money came in my possession/I'm selfish, no question/My alarm is set to every second, no restin'/My haters spend a lot of time with me, I'm they best friend," she raps.

"PettyWap" is M.A's first new song since her Allen Iverson homage "Praktice." In January, she memorably shredded Metro Boomin and Southside's beat for Gucci Mane's "I Get the Bag." In a video posted on her Instagram this week, Young M.A said a "PettyWap" video is coming soon, as is a new album. You can listen to the track below, where you'll also find that IG video and the single's cover art.
