YBN Cordae Wrestles With Demons in New “Fighting Temptations” Video

Fresh off scorching the Shade 45 booth, YBN Cordae is back with a new song and video for "Fighting Temptations."

The track, produced by Trox, places the Maryland-raised rapper over a retro soul sample, organ and programmed kit drums, a far cry from the SoundCloud-era tastes of his fellow YBN crew members Nahmir and Almighty Jay. Cordae slices through the boom-bap production with knotty rhymes about his demons.

"I done lost some little homies, couple cousins, it's crazy/My little brother straight busin', now he stuck with a baby/And he like 'fuck it, it's gravy'/It's just another occasion/With some luck I'ma save him/But shit, he stuck on probation," he raps.

The video, directed by frequent YBN collaborator PplCallMeAce, captures Cordae in an abandoned lot, spitting amidst the trash while munching on Doritos. In the second verse, the "Old N*ggas" rapper pulls in anti-consumerist bars from his recent Statik Selektah freestyle, matching the tone of the surrounding rubble.

According to WorldStar, the song comes from a forthcoming YBN compilation mixtape featuring the entire squad's talents. That includes YBN Nahmir, one of the newly announced members of the 2018 XXL Freshman List, who performed last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. Smart money won't sleep on the rest of the gang.
