Princess Nokia's shift from boom-bap traditionalist to emo-rap innovator continues. The "Tomboy" rapper goes full rock star in "Look Up Kid," the latest video from her April project A Girl Cried Red.

The visuals, directed by Travis Libin and Destiny Frasqueri, feature the New York rapper performing the track with a four-piece band, stuffed inside what looks like a garage or basement in New York. The DIY vibes appropriately match the tune, which refashions Nokia's typically rapped emotional confessions as pop punk.

"Days slip into years of wounds that bleed fresh/Suffer in silence, is what you do best/You have no guidance, no person to tell/You're bleedin' on the inside but ain't nobody here can tell," she sings in the first verse.

"Look Up Kid" is the third track from A Girl Cried Red, Nokia's first project since September's 1992 Deluxe, to receive visual treatment. She previously released videos for "Your Eyes Are Bleeding" and "For the Night." Earlier this year, the Princess performed selections from the project at Coachella. A few months earlier, she went viral after dumping a bowl of hot soup on a man shouting the n-word on a New York subway car.
