Maryland singer Gallant stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday to perform a remix of his new single "Doesn't Matter" with a special guest, A$AP Ferg.

Backed by a four-piece choir and a four-piece band, the unlikely cohorts transform the song into a 1990s-style romantic R&B-rap collab. While Gallant lays low in a bedazzled black butterfly chair, Ferg opens with a verse stuffed with flirty punchlines.

"Baby girl you're so amazing/And your body's so hot like cajun/We can hit up any spot in the nations/Skinny dip, might wanna do you brazen," Ferg raps.

Gallant follows with a mash-up of romantic metaphors, flexing his vocal range with the hopes of preserving a relationship, regardless of whether it will work out in the end.

"Bet you remember back when I was headstrong/Tugging on the ends of my invisible noose/Thought you'd be jumping ship, but I was dead wrong/You can sail on thin ice long as I can too," he sings.

The original track, released in May, is Gallant's second solo single of the year, following his April drop, "Gentleman," as well as a standout Saba collaboration from last year titled "Bourbon," which was featured in a particularly memorable Tiny Desk concert. It's unclear whether any of the songs will be featured on a forthcoming project. Gallant released his debut album Ology in June 2016.

Ferg, meanwhile, is in the middle of promoting the new film Uncle Drew, set for release on June 29. Earlier this month, the A$AP Mob member shared a video for his soundtrack contribution, "Harlem Anthem."
