Jay Critch Drops New Songs “Sweepstakes” and “Robin Hood”

Jay Critch is no stranger to releasing music at the drop of a dime, and now he's back with two new bangers, “Sweepstakes” and “Robin Hood.”

His lyrics on both cuts show off his ability to paint vivid pictures of an excessive lifestyle. “Off White like a nigga do construction,” he raps on the Chulo-produced "Sweepstakes." "On an off night, I can still make like a hundred/I'm ballin broad day, Barclays dropping buckets/You be talkin' small change, all day, change the subject."

On the Laron and Clibbo-produced "Robin Hood," the XXL Freshman hopeful is just as ruthless. "Niggas won't come fool me/Most of these bitches be acting like hoes but that's what a bitch gonna be/I put my left wrist in the snow, right hand on the beach."

The Brooklyn rapper—currently signed to Rich The Kid’s Rich Forever Music label—is part of a growing trend that sees young New York rappers breaking away from traditional East Coast flows and deliveries. But unlike Desiigner, who faced criticism for adapting a similar cadence, Critch has been raising a slew of praises.

Last month, during his candid talk with DJ Whoo Kid on the Whoolywood Shuffle podcast, the "Knots" spitter remembers one pivotal moment being when he received props from Jadakiss. "When I went up to XXL they posted me [onto Instagram] and asked, 'Do y'all think Jay Critch should be on XXL [2018 Freshman Cover], and Jadakiss commented like, 'Yes,' with the flex emoji," Critch said. "And I'm like, 'Oh shit, that's Kiss.' That shit was crazy. That shit was legendary," he expressed. "Shout-out to Jadakiss, a hundred big bro. You know how we coming the New York way."
