Desiigner Visits Brooklyn Projects in “Hood” Video
Amid label president Pusha-T's viral beef with Drake, Desiigner is doing his best to remind fans that the G.O.O.D. Music signee just released his own project too. The New York rapper dropped a video from his L.O.D. EP today (May 31) for his song "Hood."
The clip tracks Desiigner, donning a fur jacket, as he tours a public housing project that appears to be his hometown of Brooklyn. When not filming the rapper signing autographs or singing the track's soaring hook, the camera explores the pleasures and pains of life in the community, from pickup basketball and laundromat romance to parenting, policing and death. It's an appropriate juxtaposition for a song that simultaneously celebrates and sympathizes with the troubles of the streets.
"Hood" is the third song from Desiigner's project to receive a video, following the Sebastian Sdagui-directed "Priice Tag" and the monster truck-featuring "Tonka." The "Panda" rapper also appeared this week in Dice Soho's "SSP" video, and earlier this month, he sat down with XXL to read the children's book, Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What Do You See?
L.O.D. and Pusha's album Daytona are the first releases in what is expected to be a long summer for Kanye West's record label. Yeezy is expected to drop a solo album on June 1, as well as a joint album with Kid Cudi titled Kids Will See Ghosts. West has also claimed to be producing projects due this summer from Nas and Teyena Taylor.
