This year, there's been plenty of good rap, regardless of what type you prefer. For this week's edition of Best Songs of the Week, we hear from some of the biggest names on the newer wave of hip-hop. 6ix9ine dropped his debut mixtape and takes a different route with "CHOCOLATÉ," while fan favorite Ski Mask The Slump God drops the exhilarating "DoIHaveTheSause?"

The polarizing 6ix9ine finally dropped his much-anticipated debut mixtape, DAY69, today. One of the most unique songs on it is "CHOCOLATÉ," which features a chant. The bouncy beat and slowed tempo is different from most 6ix9ine songs. Even with the different sound, 6ix9ine sticks to his guns, literally: "Let that ruger fly, automatic popping at your guys/You gon' lose a guy, ’tato on the barrel, give 'em fries/On that type of time, for my wodie, that's my fucking slime/On that type of shit, for the bloody, you get crucifixed."

With a new album on the way, Ski Mask The Slump God has mostly stuck to features. That changes today with his latest track "DoIHaveTheSause?" Ski Mask is as sharp as ever, running through all sorts of flows over the mostly minimal beat. "I feel like the Packers logo, I'm a G/These niggas be full of cap, like knees," he spits, jumping all over the track. He's also funny, as per usual: "Fuck it, I’ma be the knees of bumblebees/Your mother is teaching me the birds and bees."

Young Scooter has been teasing his new album, Trippple Cross, for quite some time, and it certainly delivers. One of the strongest tracks is "Both Sides," which features brothers in (Super) Slime Future and Young Thug. All three artists shine, but Young Thug rapping, "I'm in a chocolate Ferrari, yeah, I look like a spider/My fifth pocket molly/My partner on Roxies, yeah, my bitch caught a body," is surely a highlight.

Vallejo, Calif.'s own SOB x RBE return with their new album, Gangin', which features the super-catchy "Y.H.U.N.G." Group member Yhung TO goes solo on this cut, and more than holds his own. Over the steel pan-tinged beat, he croons, "Young nigga/Fall wit' it, fall wit' a, young nigga, yeah/And I'm wit' it, if you wit' it, I'm wit' it, I'm wit' cha, girl." While he's singing about romance, he's still not slippin': "Ex nigga hit her phone in his feelings and shit/Aye, I don't trust that nigga/If he look the wrong way, I might bust that nigga."

Flatbush Zombies announced their new tour fairly recently, and they still have an album coming. Their new track "Headstone," off Vacation in Hell, is a new treat for the fans. The warbling and dreary beat is right at home for the Zombies, who have excellent chemistry on the song. Meechy Darko totally takes over, rapping, "Records on my death certificate, I gave you power/21 questions, like who shot ya? I shot ya!/Warning, watch them niggas flashin' like paparazzi/Two words, fuck bitches, get money."

Rounding out this week is Blac Youngsta, who also dropped 2.23 today. On the album, he snags Travis Scott for the collaboration "Heavy Camp," produced by Cardo. Travis handles the hook while Blac Youngsta raps about his loyalty to his crew. Things are going well for Youngsta, but he knows success breeds resentment: "I be runnin' to that money, nothin' but gunnas 'round me/I be runnin' with them gunnas/Fuck it up, bitch called my phone trippin', I hung up/I'ma fight this bitch if he run up."
