Another day, another new rapper freestyles over Tay-K's breakout single “The Race.” When the 17-year-old Texas rapper dropped off the visuals for "The Race" in June, it became one of summer 2017’s hottest tracks, amassing over 45 million views since its YouTube debut. Since then, the beat for the song, produced by S.Diesel, has been remixed by big names such as TygaLil YachtyChevy Woods and Rico Nasty.

The latest remix is from Philly's rising rap star Kur. The bars are plentiful and come in abundance, as Kur spits bone-shattering lines for nearly two minutes.

Kur shows no signs of slowing down this summer. He released his 180 mixtape in May and came back in August to drop his latest project titled Da 9.

In a 2017 interview with XXL, Kur discussed why he places so much emphasis on his trials and tribulations in his music. “It was a shock to people because people wasn’t saying it exactly how it was or people was sugarcoating it and I just gave my shit to the grit,” Kur shares. “Y’all gonna hear it. My whole thing when I’m writing, when I’m playing this shit, I want people’s moms to be like, ‘Well, what the fuck did he go through?’ or ‘Why did he say that?’ I want people’s heads to turn. So that’s always been my thing. And then I kinda lost myself from doing that, but I’m back on it. I strayed from doing it, now I’m back doing it.”

When we spoke to Philly producer Maaly Raw earlier this year, he also said he has a full tape with Kur on the way as well.

As for Tay-K, he has since been transferred to an adult jail and charged with capital murder. “The Race” peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and rappers like Kodak Black and Meek Mill have showed love to Tay-K while he's been incarcerated.
