Fred The Godson is making sure that the South Bronx is well represented throughout the summer season, and he's back with his new track "G5." The "King Pin" rapper is delivering a major return to the music scene with the song, grabbing a feature from East Harlem's Dave East.

The New York native is joined by the "Paper Chasin" MC to serve up some heavy bars on the DJ Kool B-produced record, which is reminiscent of the authentic sound that has consistently come out of the Northeast city in the past.

Godson shares the inspiration for the hardcore track. "The inspiration was straight gutter, New York City hip-hop," he tells XXL. "The beat calls for that, I had to get my boy Dave East on this."

Fred also revealed that "G5" will be included on his upcoming Gordo mixtape, which is set for an Aug. 18 release.

"This song will be featured on my upcoming mixtape Gordo, [which is] going to be released everywhere on Aug. 18. Be on the lookout for that," he continues. "Video coming soon as well."

We also get an update on why Fred The Godson has taken such a long hiatus with his music, as he assures us that he's ready to make an epic comeback.

"No vacations, no days off! I am ready!" he says. "I took the past few years to do a lot of writing, getting in the studio and working on projects with other people, do some different things. 2017 is the reintroduction of Fred The Godson. I have projects in the pipeline and am ready to go nonstop. It's time!"
