Run the Jewels Share the Demo Version of “Panther Like a Panther”

On a recent episode of Run The Jewels' Beats 1 Radio show WRTJ, Killer Mike and El-P premiered an unreleased demo version of “Panther Like a Panther." The final version of the song was featured on Run The Jewels’ RTJ3 album that was released last December.

The demo version has some of the lyrics changed and Trina doesn't appear, who supplies a fantastic hook on the completed version. The record still has the same relentless feel as the Miracle Mix but with a bit more edge. Listen to it below.

"Told the preacher I love her, he said that God was her lover/I said if he really loves her then he would want me to fuck her," raps El-P on the demo version. On the album version he raps, "I said if he really loves her then he would love that we're lovers."

The original version also came out for Record Store Day. Fans got to download the O.G. “Panther Like a Panther" for free when they purchased RTJ's special edition tote bag.

The completed track was featured in the trailer for Gears of War 4, in which Killer Mike and El-P were playable characters.
