Mista Cain and Boosie Badazz Represent Baton Rouge on New Song “Remember When”

Baton Rouge has a plethora of up-and-coming rappers that hip-hop fans should pay attention to. From Caleb Brown to Spitta, the B.R. is one of the go-to hotbeds of southern stars since the late 1990s, when artists like Young Bleed gained national recognition with “How You Do Dat.”

One of the young MCs that began turning heads was Mista Cain, until his career took a major halt when in 2012, he was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. He would go on and spend the next three years in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Mista was acquitted on all charges in 2015, and has been working hard to regain the buzz he once had. His newest single, "Remember When," featuring fellow Baton Rouge native Boosie Badazz is fantastic. Mista's patient delivery and Boosie's reality raps match up fantastically. "Remember When" is Mista Cain's fresh start.

"Basically, it's about me transitioning from my struggle from having it hard to my days now," Mista Cain said in a recent interview. "I collaborated with Boosie because we came up in the city damn near going through the same things."

"Remember When" is off Cain's upcoming album, Tha Verdict, which drops March 17 and features Boosie Badazz, Young Dolph, Starlito, Trouble and Chrizz Michaels. To go along with the single, the B.R. storyteller released a documentary titled The Godfather, which chronicles his release from jail and his return to rap.
