It's been almost a year since Atlanta rapper Bankroll Fresh was shot and killed outside Street Exec Studios. As the hip-hop community continues to mourn the loss of a Southern underground staple, Bankroll's camp has promised to drop new music on the rapper's behalf. Street Money Worldwide teased new music from the "Hot Boy" rapper earlier this month and today (Jan. 9) they deliver the single "Truth Be Told."

Produced by Evil G, the new track above shows off Bankroll keeping it 100 in his grizzliest tone.

"I cannot help we ain't dressing these niggas/Get outta line and we checking these niggas/Don't you hate I got the recipe, nigga?/I can tell they hatin', especially these niggas," spits Bankroll.

Before his untimely death, Bankroll was on his way from regional recognition to rap stardom. From 2013 until 2016, Bankroll had worked with Gucci Mane, Mike Will Made-It, Metro Boomin and more. Rappers like Lil Wayne, Meek Mill and 2 Chainz have paid tribute to his legacy in the months since his passing and Bankroll's guest vocals have shown up on releases from Jeezy and YFN Lucci. In September of 2016, Street Money Worldwide shared a posthumous Bankroll Fresh single called "I Just Wanna" featuring T.I. and Spodee.

The circumstances behind Bankroll Fresh’s death got complicated after his alleged killer, a fellow rapper named No Plug, gave an interview in which claimed to have shot Bankroll in self-defense. This led to Bankroll’s uncle writing a scathing letter to DJ Vlad, the man who conducted the interview. As of today, No Plug has not been charged with Bankroll's death.

"Truth Be Told" serves as the lead single off Fresh’s first posthumous release, In Bank We Trust. The ten-track project of previously-vaulted songs is set to drop soon.
