August Alsina is back, dropping his first single in almost a year. Today (Jan. 6), Alsina releases "Drugs," a sultry record that finds the former XXL Freshman singing about fiending for his special lady like he's going through drug withdrawal, except without the nausea and vomiting.

"I got you on my mind, oh/I got you on my mind/You're not here and I can't sleep/I got you on my mind/And I can't seem to find you, nowhere/Baby, you got me patrollin'/'Cause you been on the run for discomfort/Girl, don't hide it/I'm just tryna to this dirty laundry/I got a few towels to throw in/Just lick my blunt when I roll it," sings August.

Following the release of his sophomore LP, This Thing Called Life, in 2015, August Alsina kept quiet in 2016. Outside from doing records with Chris Brown and DJ Khaled, the New Orleans native stayed to himself, but he did get active in his community.

Back in July, August led Louisiana residents and Black Lives Matter supporters at a Baton Rogue protest. Alton Sterling’s aunt and the store owner who witnessed his death joined August in the protest.

Alsina also lead a prayer amongst those gathered at the protest, saying, “Thank you for giving us strength in a time of despair. Thank you for giving us love in a time where we hate and hurt…Help us be the mind that can change the world. Touch every boy and every girl out here and let them know that their life matters. Give us the strength to stay steadfast and on the mission and not give up until justice is served.”
