Dom Kennedy missed out on his usual summer release, but it looks like he still plans to drop a new project in 2016. The West Coast rapper revisits his 2013 album Get Home Safely to create a sequel to the DrewByrd produced "Dominic." Part two features Dom delivering some his laid-back rhymes over a smooth beat made by J. Lbs.

"I'm tryna rent classics that ain't got shit on how we live now/But they don't celebrate you when you coming down/They just give you that look and appraise yo shit/Like that's that twin turbo, I know you paid a grip/Nothing counterfeit, every line you can quote/I could roll stock Forgiatos or spokes," Dom raps.

Dom Kennedy's decision to recapture some old vibes with "Dominic Part 2" may have been prompted by the fan reaction to his new material. The Los Angeles native's single "U Got It Like That" invoked a lot of strong reactions from listeners upon its release in August. A popular opinion expressed on social media was the song being proof that Dom fell off from his glory days of making soundtracks for the summer.

By making a sequel to a record from Get Home Safely, Dom Kennedy forces the listener to remember the best of times. That album remains one of his more celebrated works, so it is a smart move for the California rhymer. "Dominic Part 2" just might be what Dom needs to get some positive buzz going ahead of his Los Angeles Is Not For Sale Vol. 1 project.
