Young Dolph is proud of his humble origins. The Memphis rapper gives viewers a glimpse at his old stomping grounds in the music video for "Nothin" off his Rich Crack Baby mixtape. The video helps to paint a picture of the hard times Dolph experienced before his success in the rap game.

"I came up from across the track where niggas starving at/Where niggas cross out they own brother and they heartless at/The same fuck niggas that used to sell my mama crack/I flex on they bitch ass and cop them coupes back to back," he raps on the first verse.

The accomplishments of Young Dolph are all the more impressive since he's an independent artist. The "Both Ways" MC said that his independent status has led to some obstacles though.

"Being independent and having to go through situations and deal with certain people that all the major label artists have say. They be like, 'Ah, you independent.' They wanna give independent artists a hard time," Young Dolph told XXL earlier this year. "Just a few of them, not all of them. A majority of them fuck with me, they respect what I’m doing. That’s all it is. Just got a point to prove. Any independent artist got a point to prove. What’s going to make them take you more seriously than they take him? Both of y’all are rappers, no matter what y’all backgrounds are."
