Kevin Abstract takes things back to high school for his new music video. The Corpus Christi rapper unleashes a creative visual for the song "Empty" off his upcoming American Boyfriend album. The video depicts a girl catching her boyfriend, a high school football player, cheating on her with another boy.

"Sweaty palms as I walk down this empty road/I got a mom, but we ain't spoke in I don't know/I had her heart, don't speak to me anymore/And life get hard but these last days been meaning more," Kev raps.

The video is Abstract's first time in the director's chair. He teamed up with producer Michael Uzowuru to create the story and concept. Abstract told Vulture that the video came from his fascination with the deception involved in suburban life.

"It looks very nice and amazing and perfect on the outside, but then when you go into these homes you see that a lot of these families are broken and have problems of their own," Abstract said.

It does not appear that the "Empty" video means fans are any closer to hearing American Boyfriend though. Kevin Abstract did not provide any release date when asked about it.

"I get to make the rules, so I’m not tripping," he said. "I’d like to have it out sooner rather than later."

With no release in sight for his album, fans will just have to settle for listening to tracks like "Empty" and the Allan Kingdom collab "Slit My Wrist."
