Captain Murphy, also known as Flying Lotus' rap alter ego, is pitching in to provide the ghoulish soundtrack to Adult Swim's Single Series this fall. The rapper/producer drops "Crowned" today (Sept. 29).

Rapping over an eerie and intriguing beat, FlyLo/Murphy ponders some everyday nighttime terrors we all can relate to.

"I'm mad I let these bad thoughts manifest to regrets/And stain sweats, sticky fingers, bad dreams/Garlic breath, itchy feet, smelly farts and nipple cream/The night is nothing like it seems."

FlyLo has a storied history with Adult Swim, having produced some of his first beats for the channel when he was starting to make a name for himself in music. So while the L.A.-based producer is shifted his focus on finishing his new film, it makes sense he'd dropped a few bars for the company that first helped him out.

Earlier this summer, the electronic beat maker unveiled the first short film from his Brainfeeder label titled Royal at Sundance NEXT Festival. Based on the positive response, FlyLo announced that Royals was part of a bigger theatrical project called Kuso.

“The idea behind “Kuso” is a simple one. It’s pretty much everything I’m afraid of,” wrote FlyLo on Twitter, which starting a guessing game among his fans. While FlyLo only dropped crumbs of information about the film, he did say he plans to release a new album along with the film, for which he’ll be going by his rap alias, Captain Murphy. The soundtrack to Kuso will also include new music from Aphex Twin and Thundercat.
