Black Dave is serious about making punk rock. Although the New York rhymer released a new rap track earlier this month, Dave returns to his punk explorations with two new songs. "WTF You Gonna Do" and "Punk Rock Tupac" are pure punk creations from the Harlem native.

Back in January, Black Dave spoke about his reason for recording punk instead hip-hop. The rapper told Ride that something had been missing in his music.

"I put on my Instagram that I lost motivation to create rap music,” Black Dave said. “I feel like I’m just creating music for what people want to hear and not for who I am and what I really want to put out there.”

The transition was easy for Black Dave because punk rock was something he listened to a lot growing up. Now, he was simply tapping into an old influence.

“Punk rock music has always been an influence on me," he said. "Growing up skating, watching skate videos, it was punk rock and it was hip-hop that was in all of these videos. All that stuff that I listened to growing up, now that I’m older and I’m developing as a artist I want to tap back into that.”

Black Dave is exploring the creative possibilities of punk rock, but that does not mean he's done with hip-hop. The rapper is working on a collaborative project with producer Nick Catchdubs, which will be released on Fool's Gold Records.
