Dave East is pretty popular these days. The Harlem rapper is not afraid to boast about his fame as seen with the title of his latest record. "Couple Reasons I'm Popular" features the 2016 XXL Freshman rapping over DJ Khaled and Drake's "For Free" instrumental. East delivers an extended verse...

"I know you really want a picture nigga, not right now/Just to put it on your Gram, telling people I'm your man/We was used to selling grams, I'm breaking night right now/Name a nigga in the city that can fit my sneaks/The label talking bout a tour I got to live next week," he raps.

The Harlem native has stayed busy since securing his spot on the Freshmen cover, dropping the track "Stove Top" and the video for "Deposits" a short time later.

Two weeks ago, he was featured on tracks by Nipsey Hussle and Bia. Earlier this week, he put out the solo song "Percocets."

He is currently prepping the release of his new mixtape Kairi Chanel, which was originally scheduled to come out on July 22. It now looks like the project will drop later on this summer.

On Monday (July 25), East and fellow freshmen Lil Yachty, Lil Dicky, Denzel Curry, G Herbo, Anderson .Paak, 21 Savage, Desiigner and Lil Uzi Vert performed at the 2016 Freshman Class show in Los Angeles. Check out the footage from the super lit show, here.
