Young Thug just dropped this remix of Drake's "Controlla" with Twice and it's fire. Listen to it above and watch out for that Kyrie Irving line. Chances are you won't miss it.

Thug might have front-loaded 2016 with two projects – I'm Up and Slime Season 3 – in anticipation of his HiTunes album (which is supposed to come out this year), but he's quietly dropped some of his best singles in awhile after those two tapes came out. First he dropped "Texas Love" out of the blue, a vibrantly emotional song reminiscent of Weezy's best over a crazy Ricky Racks beat. Then he dropped another single "Gangster Shit" out of nowhere, produced by the guy Thug works with best, Wheezy. Only the latter's been made available for purchase on iTunes, but they're both tremendous songs.

Thug just finished his HiTunes tour after selling out venues around the U.S. Now we wait for news on the album, which we've been waiting for ever since "Stoner" popped off three years ago.

Thug and Lyor Cohen, the head of his record label 300 Ent., have had some some friction in the past, and cameras even caught them arguing about how Lyor feels Thug abandons songs like "orphans" without circling back to develop them more fully. Clearly Thugger is an artist with a will of his own, and part of the struggle to break him into the mainstream is channeling his off-the-wall energy into a product the masses will love. That's Lyor's challenge. We'll see how he handles it.

For now, hear Thug destroy the "Controll" beat above and dream about how crazy Jeffrey would sound over a couple other beats from Views.
