Carving out a career in hip-hop as the child of a rap star is a difficult prospect. When a parent has made such a big impact on the genre, it is hard to escape the label of simply being their kid. Just look at some West Coast examples in Hood Surgeon and Lil Eazy E. The looming shadow of Dr. Dre and Eazy E could never be escaped by their sons. District 21 hopes to be one of the artist to break that mold.

District 21 is the son of Mack 10. Having a father that's seen in all in the rap game certainly has its advantages. It also means that District is constantly competing with a legacy that has already been solidified. The only way to break out on his own is releasing quality music.

"Regulators" might just District 21's ticket to carving out his own lane. The track is a far cry from the g-funk stylings of his father. Instead, District works with a mellow beat produced by Shilo Sanders, son of legendary NFL player Deion Sanders, to tell his story.

"Cream got a n---a feeling like I won't switch/I'm the n---a, I'm the n---a, real hitters don't miss/Let me show you what is, show you how to move/Show you how to run it, you don't even know the truth/Back on the n---a, fie plex lil n---a/Cause if you do the math my n---as don't lose," District 21 raps.

The track was released late last year, but finds new life with its music video. District 21 is seen cruising around his city which makes for a fitting visual. "Regulators" is a great track for a relaxing ride on a beautiful summer day.
