Fresh off rolling out his latest mixtape, 88, Atlanta-based rapper Nick Grant dropped a gritty visual treatment for his new single, "The Plan" yesterday (March 10).

Like the song title implies, Grant is steady working on his master plan to conquer hip-hop and interprets the message in the form of an armed robbery for the 3-minute video.
With the help from some beautiful accomplices, Grant pulls off a heist of old school hip-hop gems. While Grant stays back, the ladies do much of the dirty work: tying up security, scoping out the right entrances, even dosing one of the guards with a chloroform rag. Through it all, Grant recites his lyrics, riddled with fire one-liners.

"All you n***s basic, I’m that n***a face it/Misery loves company but I ain’t get yo invitation (nah)/I’m with an Asian slick as precipitation/Head right, lips amazing/Suit and tie, Timberlakin’/She nice, but broke n****s can’t afford her/Cause she’s bad to the bone like a calcium disorder."

Once the coast is clear, the South Carolina spitter comes into the warehouse to collect the bounty, a storage crate full of old rap paraphernalia. The camera pans over Mobb Deep, Wu Tang Clan and Big L vinyl and tapes while the music fades out. To the victor goes the spoils, right?

Grant's impressive lyricism has caught the ear of many beyond his region's barriers. When XXL caught up with the young gun for The Break, Grant explained his sound's comparisons.

"I get a lot of Nas comparisons; people just say I make good music. They compare me to everything that came out in the ‘90s and I’m restoring the feeling. [My sound] is very much so original, it’s like the new mixed with the old. It’s pretty much a mix of everything."

For fans of the 27-year-old rhymer, Grant will be making his first appearance at SXSW Festival in Austin this year, appearing on multiple stages, including official stage of A3C. Check out Grant's latest drop above.
