As the hip-hop world mourns the death of a true innovator in the art, A Tribe Called Quest's Queens-bred spitter Phife Dawg, one of the West Coast's most innovative beat smiths Flying Lotus is offering something new to the landscape. Lotus shared three previously unheard songs yesterday (March 22), one titled "NO Feeer Thunnderrrcatt2010," and two new re-works of cuts off his 2014 album, You're Dead!. "Haleys Line//thundercat" serves as a quick jam session between the producer and his labelmate Thundercat while "Turkey Dog Coma" gets a new twist.

Lotus delivers these spacey, bass-laced tunes just one week after the announcement that his Brainfeeder label is set to take over one of LA’s most iconic venues, the Hollywood Bowl, come September. While Brainfeeder has been a respected name in experimental hip-hop since its inception in 2008, this showcase will be the first time fans get to see and hear the roster as a whole. The show takes place Sept. 17 and will feature Lotus collaborating live with the likes of Thundercat, Azizi Gibson, Shabazz Palaces, Ras G and The Underachievers as well as funk legend George Clinton. This means there's no telling how long the jam sessions will go on for. Tickets for the “Brainfeeder at the Hollywood Bowl” show are available at the venue’s box office and online starting May 1. Until then, keep an ear to Soundcloud and enjoy the luscious new tracks Lotus offers up above and below. He had a hand in crafting Kendrick's To Pimp a Butterfly, so keep an ear out for similarities as you listen.
