Just as the month comes to a close, Elzhi drops the newest visual to go with his upcoming album Lead Poison today (Feb. 29). The Detroit MC is fast asleep and looking to erase his past one snowy day in "February." Taking a page straight out of the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotlight Mind, Elzhi is lying in bed and subconsciously dreaming while mind erasures play on Mac Books with cat scans of his brain. While he sleeps, El recalls memories of a lost love, family death, and friends he no longer knows all the while rapping through the grief.

"You took a friend from me who wasn't just some celeb you buried / He inspired us all musically / You came around and changed things, I want it how it used to be."

Elzhi wakes up looking lost, not knowing whether the people in his room messing with his mind were a figment of his imagination or the last memory he'll ever hold. The entire song and visual acts as an ode to the late great producer J Dilla, who died unexpectedly of heart failure on Feb. 20, 2006. There are shots of Dilla paraphernalia, Dilla's signature Detroit Tigers hat and even a moment of Elzhi in the booth with Dilla nodding his head from behind the boards.

With this year marking ten years since Dilla's been gone, a slew of rappers have dropped songs inspired by the Donuts producer. Elzhi, Bishop Lamont, J Rocc, Guilty Simpson and more performed at the first ever J Dilla Day in Los Angeles earlier this month as well as J Dilla Weekend in Miami where Black Though, Madlib, Joey Badass and more performed in memory of the influential producer. Nas also announced earlier this month that he would be dropping an album of Dilla's posthumous work called The Diary this April.
