Rising Florida rapper Denzel Curry continues his strong start to 2016 with "Knotty Head." True to form, Curry is aggressive over production from FNZ and Ronny J and name drops the likes of Andy Milonakis, Pistol Pete Maravich and the late Speaker Knockerz as he puts on for people who rock their hair in a knot. With "Knotty Head," the fire-spitting Curry keeps his streak of loosies rolling as he preps his upcoming Imperial project.

Curry recently dropped the video for "ULT," the lead single from Imperial. The 21-year-old rapper is gearing up for what promises to be a busy, and a potential breakout, year. In March, Curry, Allan Kingdom and JK the Reaper will embark on a 30-date tour that will take them all over the country and will conclude with three straight shows in Curry's home state of Florida.

The Carol City native spoke with XXL for "The Come Up" and the he told us about the different styles of rap found in his hometown and how it helped him shape his own style and approach to music.

"Coming out of Carol City, we had different sections, but I guess it’s all like one area. You know how neighborhoods go," he said. "The people that were coming out from there, you had people like JT Money going to schools in Liberty City to places like Norland. Then Rick Ross graduated from Carol City High School. Gunplay, who is also part of MMG, Triple Cs, Flo Rida, Briscoe; I was looking at them like, “Damn, these guys are coming from the same city I’m from.” It was either rapping like them or being different. I knew I was different from the jump because I wasn’t rapping about the same shit, but I was young as fuck though. So I couldn’t really say too much shit."
