Obie Iyoha of The Black Opera drops the news single "Lost in America" off his debut solo album Midnight Run. The 25-year-old MC/producer prays for forgiveness as he raps bars about his journey.  "'Lost in America' is a tale about the actions and consequences of peer pressure due to a lack of guidance," he told The Fader. "A looking-glass to going astray on the not-so-sunny side of America, as an African boy." The Chisom Uzosike-produced beat is melodic and euphoric boasting excellent acoustic strings, fitting well with Obie's smooth delivery. The son of Nigerian immigrants paints a vivid picture of what it was like walking in his shoes while growing up. You can bump "Lost In America" above.

The rising spitta is the youngest member of the hip hop collective known as The Black Opera and is gearing to make a leap on his LP Midnight Run, which is out today (Jan. 22). Midnight Run is "a journey through the murky-water trenches of southeast Michigan, otherwise known as 'Trippyville,' confronting the vices that the night has to offer." The 12-song LP features Black Alfalfa, Naya X.O., Maya Caldwell, Jamall Bufford and Magestik Legend. The album is laced with live instrumentation over crips production, taking listeners on a late night excursion through the inner city. You can stream Midnight Run below.
