It seems like just yesterday that Erykah Badu was marinating in her all-natural sage fineness, with no hint of dropping new music. Then the "Hotline Bling (Remix)" happened. And a week later the stars aligned with Badu claiming she would drop a mixtape following week, later giving way to the reality with the new single "Phone Down." Now, we have Ms. Badu's first project in five years with the mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone.

On this project she worked closely with producer Zach Witnessin with whom she mixed and recorded the 11-track offering. But You Caint Use My Phone features verses from Andre 3000 and Atlanta rapper ItsRoutine, but for the most part it's just the buxom soul singer showing off her new "TRap & B" sound. “I’m in love with this mixtape, it feels good,” said Badu of the project. “I think it’s a whole new frequency for the planet and I just wanted to do it because it’s inspiring me to write my new album—it’s kind of like the buffer in between."

Erykah is hosting the 2015 Soul Train Awards which airs this Sunday 8 PM EST on BET and Centric where she will perform her new jam "Phone Down."
