Earlier this fall, G Herbo dropped the stellar Ballin' Like I'm Kobe, which stands as one of the year's grittiest, most heartfelt mixtapes. Next Friday (Nov. 27), Herb's longtime collaborator, Lil Bibby, is set to drop the third installment of his critically acclaimed Free Crack series. Today (Nov. 19), the pair teams back up on "Get 2 Bussin." The song arrives courtesy of Red Bull Sound Select and is a potent reminder of how grim and menacing Chicago can sound, especially when channeled through its youngest MCs. Herb recently sat down with Complex, where he opened up about a variety of issues facing his career and his city. He explains that that soulful element in his music comes from his early influences ("Jadakiss, Nas, Wayne, Juelz"), and that he doesn't limit his thinking to drill music.

He was skeptical of Spike Lee's Chi-Raq, though he admits he hasn't seen the trailer: "When they tell true stories in biographies and autobiographies, at least you’ve got people who are still alive and know what exactly what is going on," he says. "The subject is stating facts. With a movie, if you're not really a part of it, and if you’re just using these stories to sell movie tickets, then you ain’t trying to make a difference. And I don’t really respect that."
