Jadakiss is the consummate rapper’s rapper, at least within the five boroughs. The grizzled veteran has been kicking around the industry for over two decades, leaving in his wake a trail of breathtaking verses and deflated opponents. But without a definitive solo work to put up against the other greats, his legacy has lived on mostly through word of mouth. Though his debut album, 2001’s Kiss tha Game Goodbye, has sold upwards of 850,000 copies, most would peg his commercial high water mark on Kiss of Death, his 2004 album anchored by the Anthony Hamilton-featuring “Why?” Neither of those albums, or his 2009 follow-up The Last Kiss, is considered by critics or fans to properly evidence his abilities. But as of today (Oct. 8), Kiss has two new singles in rotation, and one reaches way, way back:

The Lox reunite as Sheek Louch and Styles P hop on “Still Grindin,” a remix of Jada’s 2011 song “Grind.” Beyond that, the Scram Jones-produced, Dyce Payne-featuring “Baby” opens up a more soulful vein. Kiss is expected to drop his long-awaited fourth album, Top 5 Dead or Alive, in the coming months.
