Yesterday (Oct. 28) marked one year since Future dropped Monster, the sprawling, vacuous mixtape that was executive produced by Metro Boomin and served as a bloodletting after his engagement to Ciara had dissolved. Monster would spawn a major hit in "Fuck Up Some Commas" and set in motion a nine-month scamper to the top of the pop charts and critics' lists, one that was landmarked by January's Beast Mode, March's 56 Nights and July's #1 album, Dirty Sprite 2. In this period, Future took a haphazard attitude to his video releases, often dropping clips from different projects out of order and within days of each other. He's finally catching up to himself now, with the video for Dirty Sprite 2's standout "Stick Talk" dropping today. It's rote Future--dilapidated porches, immaculate cars--but that doesn't mean it's not vivid.
