The news that Future is starting his own line of wide-brimmed hats must have sent chills down Yelawolf’s spine. The Shady Records rapper uses his new “Devil In My Veins” video to demonstrate his desert preparedness, complete with motorcycles, twangy singing and things that Indiana Jones tried on and figured he couldn’t pull off. “Devil” is one of only two self-produced songs on the Alabama native’s second album, Love Story. The follow-up to his tepidly received 2011 debut, Radioactive, the sophomore set doubles down on backwoods roots and country music, straying from the semi-automatic rapping from his breakthrough mixtape, Trunk Muzik. Yelawolf has come under fire recently for his defense of the Confederate flag as an integral part of his Southern heritage. The flag has been a topic of intense debate since the June mass shooting of Black churchgoers in Charleston, SC allegedly by a white man named Dylann Roof who wore Confederate merchandise and espoused racist ideas.
