Kirk Knight has been trying valiantly to carve out his own niche in New York and nationally. The Pro Era deputy certainly picked up some new supporters on his tour with Mick Jenkins, Saba and Noname Gypsy, where he revealed himself as an energetic live performer who could hold his own with rap's newest critical darling. But Knight has still had trouble delineating himself from his more famous cohorts, due in part to a dearth of singles that stuck and in part to his crew being pigeon-holed as '90s revivalists. But now, he takes the counter-intuitive approach: flood the MP3 with higher profile guests and hope for the best. "Good Knight" works beautifully, casting Knight as a more-than-capable peer to his Pro Era partner Joey Bada$$, as well as Dizzy Wright and the Flatbush Zombies.
